The first season for Team Seidel has almost come to the end. Did we fulfill our goals the first season? and what do we do now? was among the questions Manager Jo beer asked his board of sponsors.
Of course those and other questions could not be answered properly without creating the right atmosphere and the Seidel beer was brought to the table. After all we did have a lot to celebrate and also some sorrows to drown.
The highlight of the season, was that the team in it’s first season, was able to qualify for “Fast on Wheels”. Then out of the blue, the team captain Aronsen won the prologue sending him three times on to the podium to receive all the jerseys. But then disaster struck and Aronsen was injured, even when injured he managed to hang on to both the GC and the YC jersey for one more stage, what a guy! That was probably some sort of a OCM record, to start the stage with an injury and still hang on to the GC lead.
So what now? how do the team go on from here?
Mr. Beer told the board that he wanted to focus on returning to FoW with Aronsen trained specifically to be a GC contender and in TF next season. But several board members did not quite agree with that. They had some concerns because this edition of FoW had set the team so far back. A rider in TF, being protected by the whole team should not get injured like that. Tours are very unpredictable and this team is not yet of a size that we can depend so much on a tour. We have obligations to the other riders as well as to the sponsors and the 223 fans. Tours are to early for this team they said....
After a lot of discussion and even more beer, the board came to this conclusion; The team is to small now, we have only 9 riders and for the time being, we only have one rider that can produce any results. Therefore we can’t afford to put all our eggs in one basket next season and go all in for FoW, even if the tours are the most interesting to pursue. The team need to raise money and buy more riders with different skills. We must first build a more solid foundation, get more legs to stand on and then we can focus on the tours they said.
Therefore the main goal next season should be getting podium places with Aronsen and slowly start building a larger team with a second Captain as well. This will also keep the manager busy and don’t give him time to drink so much beer. Be patient, build a good foundation and the reward will come further down the road. However if half the season is wasted with today's only captain taking a long break, just to recharge for Top form, the team will stay at the same size for a long time. Be smart, be patient and look further ahead than to your red nose and the next season, was the message from the Board to Mr. Beer. After being persuaded with a bottle of beer, and reassurance that he eventually can focus on tours when these goals are reached, Mr. Beer then agreed with the board.
The board also took notice of, that Mr. Beer has given some contradictory statements to the press, concerning what the team will focus on next season. Clearly the team need a sober PR manager to deal with the press in the future. To find such a person will therefore be a priority for the team’s head hunter. The Chairman of the board stated that “Mr. Beer knows his cycling, he knows his beer, but please keep him away from the press....” Jo Beer then looked at him and said, “well that’s OK with me, I’ll even help the scout, I know where we can find a PR Manager, but I can’t promise he’ll be sober”.
Well the plan is ready, the beer bottles is empty and all we can do now, is to hope that Aronsen has it in him to deliver results. At the end of next season the team should have at least 16 riders and also have a decent second captain, allowing the team to focus on a broader type of bike races.

Nice review and good luck
Herleg skreve! Lykke til neste sesong.
Thank's Andrew.
Yes, it may be to much at this point, I'll settle for 12 and one of them being a leader, either a cobbler or a hiller. I hope I need a lot of money to complete the training for Aronsen as well and a good other captain, if I can find a 30/31 year old will probably cost around 150 000. That's a lot of jobs and a lot of podium places. :-)
Good, very good first season.
16 riders may be too much, but 12 is a good start, 5 help/ride with Henrik Aronsen and the other support the other leader.
